Administrative Services

  • The chief of administrative services provides guidance and direction in the general area of school district operational and support services. 

    The office provides managerial direction and coordination under Board policy guidelines to the operation of all district facility services (maintenance, grounds, warehouse services, custodial, fleet services and energy management), safety and security, transportation, athletics and document services. This office also manages facility rentals for the district.

    André Smith, Ed.D.

    Chief of Administrative Services 

    André L. Smith, Ed.D., began his career in education as a paraprofessional. Throughout his career, he has served as a special education teacher, dean of students, assistant principal, associate principal of instruction, middle school principal and high school principal in various school districts.

    Dr. Smith joined Irving ISD as the principal of Jack E. Singley Academy in July 2015. He later became the district's chief of schools until transitioning to the chief of administrative services.  

    Dr. Smith holds a doctorate in educational leadership from Texas Christian University, and a master’s degree in administration from Texas Woman’s University. He earned his bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. Additionally, he completed his Superintendent's certificate at the University of Texas at Arlington.
